Tried the maple tea today. Not too bad. No need add sugar. Recall that I was surprise to find maple stuff in Boston. Tawt was more Canada region. The maple biscuits were overkill in sweetness. Din find any maple nougat. Liked those that one kiddo brought back from his Canada studies.
Yesterday i tried the steam egg thing. Dun even noe what it's called. Let's assume it's on the ranks of the HK desert 炖蛋. Been many many years since I made it...
Last time when I made, there were hits and misses. Hits when it tasted great and good texture. Misses when the thing never did solidify or partial misses when i din cane the egg enuff.
So ver 1 of 2009 was good but too toooo sweet......sugar rush to throat and brain.....Sweetness aside, everything else was acheived as expectations. So not tat bad a failure...woohoo!!

What's Milestone?
S bought a Chanel bag to celebrate her age and ate at chic chic atas French restaurant.
M was saying she din realise this age was a milestone to celebrate until S had to have the bag. Subsequently, pple she knew started organising theme bashes.
The question was posed to few of us, the year end babies.
reaction was "Huh, muz special celebrate? Not 18 or 21 what....."
Actually that never dawn on any of us to think it's a milestone to specially glam it and create a huge bash.Well we still have months on hand if we really wanna bother to....Ah but I know I am not gonna work on that day. Made sure I din since I started working life...

Was reading an article abt things we learn from watching television. It reminds mi of one of my teacher once mentioned that the only time she turn on the idiot box (tat's the nick she gav it to tv) when there's news- and there's nothing much we could learn from watching TV. Guess that she's kinda wrong in certain views as the biggest category of things we learn from TV can be classified under Life Skills (according to the author)
*If you are being chased down an alley, u'll find boxes have been inconveniently placed near all the walls u need to jump over.
*All supermarkets contain a display of Baked Bean cans stacked in a giant pyramid purely for the purpose of cheeky-but-goodhearted ppl to knock over.
*If u are ever attacked by a gang of 20 people,, dun worry. They'll hang back n take turns to approach u in ones and twos so that u can conveniently defeat them all.
*Bad things only happen on dark n stormy nites. Emotional breakdowns cause ppl to wander in the heavy rain without brollie. And contrary to wat is generally believed, the loud crack of lightning and the accompanying flash always happen simultaneously.
* Nite watchmen are nondescript guys employed to do 2 things: sleep at desks and be the first to get killed. It's in their job description.
*Bad guys who are completely covered up in black clothes always whip off their black masks to reveal that they are, gasp, women.
*When anyone turns on a TV, it shows a news flash about someone u know. The tv should be immediately turned off after the item.
*All cars are inflammable and have amazing shock absorbers except police cars which crash n burn in any case.
*U can hide without being detected in the foot well of the back seat of a car, even if u are large, dangerous adult and the space is only 30 cm wide.
*All suitcases n bags have anti-gravity functions n become weightless if u have to walk any distance with them.
*If you are tall with hair that flops over ur forehead, u can run from any number of villians with weapons, and every bullet will miss u.
*If u are balding, a single well-aimed bullet is all it takes to kill u. (no wonder beijing 101 is so popular nowadays)

2) Fear for my feet and how it can retain it's full glory without deteriorating to needing guards, shoe cushion or special insoles. Let it improve plsss.....
3) What to wear to work without sweeping the floor with pants or flip flops that are out of place.
4) My shoes that I cannot touch
5) Shelf of the gym idea.
6) Yes, I have always been shorter than you, you and you. Heels does wonders.
7) You can never really understand someone even after more than a decade.

Humble Hands Gone
not painted my nails for half a year....after new year, all colours off and chopped them real real short
some were shocked, some wondered y.
k commented it looked like humble hands with no color. totally not wat she was used to seeing.
it was a plan....not evil plot but plan
i juz did not have the energy to maintain them. if it's chipped, i need to remove or change the colour if beyond cover. with the crazy hours i had, i think doing nothing about them was a better choice.
i used to like making them and adding some stuff here and there to them. no brainer and therapeutic at times....
nothing fancy and delicate as i dun noe how to do them....
proudly they are not done by professionals as i dun wanna spend 50 bucks for each session.
today i had much time in hands with no ability to venture out far... so i painted...
i think i lost the touch. the finish product is ok but it was a little messy process...
so strange to see color back. think i am ruining the healthy natural pink nails i managed to get from polish fasting.....

The moon chase of L and neighbor got me thinking about work habits. Neighbor M was a reflection of how I was few months back. In the day, he will be running for meetings, back to answer some mails and off to another meeting..... When back at the end of the day, others would be gone but continues to work at desk....
L is just mooning day and nite with an eclipse or not.....
For many months , i was juz going to discussions one after another. Some is directly involved but some I dun even noe why i am there....All because everyone need to know or raise any concerns shold they even be concerned....
After that your own work continues thru the night. On work days, I was never home before 10 cos I was in office till then or later. I din have dinner breaks but managed to munch some stuff at times... tat's how my gastric problem was nurtured out to haunt....
Some work need not be done at office pc but I stayed anyway.
Tried going home to bath relax before logging in... it helped to ease the senses but after a while, you just want to get it all done away from home. Home is where your truly relax. Others were also in office running to the same end poinnt, abndonment seems not right for morale boost.
So you stay longer in office with a couple of others who are fighting the same battle in different floors angles and ways. Alone physically at times but not quite alone. And on the way home, u recall u missed something out and then once home, you continue before sending another version out....
Unhealthy indeed. A colic's mum even said that she hardly see her until cannot recognise. exaggeration but the pun is there.
Think the cycle continues again at end of the year while the speed picks up again.....
In previous jobs, i have worked in normacy or in craziness.....
1st was mad.... a huge group of us developing different areas would juz work day and nite and weekends and holidays for different projects or stages. I recall listening to the radio during work.
I hear the last deejay leave at midnite with a goodnite smurf song.... and then the next morning the national anthem and greetings of mornign deejay of the new day. We were still at the same desk and never went home. I could hear the latest song few times a day in the same radio station because I never left the place....
I met the most number of taxi drivers. Normal ones, strange ones that gives you lecture on economics, weird ones that talk and turn back and look at you and talk and laugh in a one sided conversation while driving ahead blindly, reckless ones that zoom too fast until you wonder if the trip is the last, slow ones that give you nausea when you dun have motion sickness....
I had a record number and cost of taxi claims because I was going to client at 830, back to office at 6 and back home after many hrs later. 3 trips a day for every work day and 2 trips for non official work days.
back then in those projects, meeting to go for dinner for ot was so common . no one had lives. If you cannot find a fella for dinner, he could be either in server room, project room or on the way back from client. never because they left as it's the official time to go off. going off early seemed to be a crime and sneaking out was necessary. Struggle is an understatement esp when you din know what you were doing or how to do your tasks in that time frame.
Those were the days . Good to recall but not to relive.
Work life balance is important. Indeed. But if you dun hav a life, what is there to balance?
Ah..... but doing nothing and relaxing is a life of its own and needs to be done...

Moonwalker L
"That's one small step for (a) man; one giant leap for mankind."
Today marked 40 years old annie of moonwalking....pictures of the historic moment splashed all over the papers...but somehow I do find the picture where the US flag plugged on the moon abit fake..and this is one of the space jokes that I find it funny:
When NASA first started sending astronauts into space, they realized that the ball-point pen would not work at zero gravity. A million dollar investment and two years of tests resulted in a pen that could write in space, upside down, on almost any surface and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to over 300 degrees.
When confronted with the same problem, the Russians used a pencil!
11:23 PM
Neighbour came over n say the other neighbour's gate wide open...suspected burglars inside...surrounded the place...then someone say spotted two fellas inside....called the police....crowds all over the place.....in the end was a false alarm. We wonder whether the two 'fellas' he spotted were ahem.....mystery on 8th street.

Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away
If you are going through hell, keep going. Keep asking, keep seeking and keep knocking and the door will be opened...

Miss T and Mr L freak each other out and caused skip heartbeats....
all because one can sense the other's negativity spreading to the different shores....
shocking but true
strange and classified under ripley's believe or not.
woooooooo.....
5:12 PM
The next wave of project is ongoing. i am not in as many meetings as I was before and I am not complaining about it. my busy stuff will come but hopefully not so soon. i relish the time i have now although i am lost at times on what am i suppose to do or role.
i no longer need to horde the air time and can juz sit back and listen.
I hardly see one of my neighbours now cos he is going from one meeting after another....
so tats wat i was like a couple months back......going from one after another...
wat can i say? i told him is a party u are going to... a group of pple coming together for the same interest/topic....

too lazy to find khakis who wanna go local airlines.

at nite. was dreaming that i was alone at the hotel... the hotel wasn't like philly. some other.... then wondering where should i hide if there was a terrorist attack... the air vent near the ground myb... if i can pry it open and squeeze in ...

I was squinting my eyes while reading some financial article this morning and I found this quote quite amusing "the world's most powerful investment bank is a great vampire squid wrapped ard the face of humanity, relentlessly jamming its blood funnel into anything that smells like money"
I dun really know why I find it interesting...but this really wake me up.....

What's Mascot?
PCK is back to haunt again. What is this with him and public awareness?I am not a fan of PCK or Gurmit Singh but that is not the reason. I think PCK started during my school days when I was still in uniform .... It was one of the novelty show that got people talking and watching. I did too for some episodes. until the formula was squeezed and drained. But the shows still kept going.....
Now they are found in the train stations. telling people to give way to others and reserve seats. Those courtesy reminders are alright. Granted they are required. Passengers can be blocks of wood and dun noe the basics. They think they can enter the train faster by doing a penlaty kick block in front of the door. But to use PCK and wife and in terrible english? "Dun play play, and give way".... oh my gosh...
Some time back, there were oso public annoucements in trains by Jack Neo and gang in the most obnoxious shreiking voice and volume talking about some stuff. They were not remainders, they were noise pollution. And the representative of the country for Amazing Race in a neighbourhood flat? PCK at the pit stop.
Had a opport to go to a PCK musical years back, courtesy of my prev employer. I walked out at intermission. It sounded too much like a total defence promo clip that was stretched too long. I was not the lone ranger. Others did too.
I do not have perfect language skills. I even write spell talk terribly in emails and in conversations etc. I am trying to reconcile the snobbish snot factor. But what are you showing when you glamourise inaccuracy and profess international standards? Some stuff should be left on tv sitcoms and laid to rest when it ended years back.

saw Transformers 2. 1 was so much better. given that I dun really rmber the actual plot but it was exciting and time flewe past . 2 was juz a lump of jumble trying to be exciting all at once until u lose interest. Graphics were amazing. Megan was beautiful but her script only contain the word "SAM!!!"
Robots were fighting but you can't really differentiate the goood or bad...It was a slight disappointing since i was looking fwd to it and had high expectations. and refusal to watch in nyc cinemas at a premium.
ah but at parts i went "hey. tat's new york"... "how u noe?"... "cos i saw that building and that building from empire"..." tat's times square", "tat's empire state", "tat's brooklyn bridge", that's hahvad, tat's aero musuem, tats washingtion....

Sorrow is better than laughter, for by the sadness of the face the heart is made better. -
The reason for the sadness of this modern age and the men who live in it is that it looks for the truth in everything and finds it.
Goncourt, Edmond and Jules De
The ideal life is in our blood and never will be still. Sad will be the day for any man when he becomes contented with the thoughts he is thinking and the deeds he is doing -- where there is not forever beating at the doors of his soul some great desire to do something larger; which he knows he was meant and made to do.

Just that sometimes it wouldn't get to you so deeply if you could hold a grudge. If you could be just as angry as you were when you first realised. Understanding it doesnt take the hurt away. You just get to wondering if staying mad would.
- Abstract from a book read
3:01 PM

It’s been a crazy hectic three months or so and life has just changed dramatically.Just when I tawt of at my age, life would be more mundane, routine and predictable, there's seem so much of waves lately thrown at me over and over again, testing my faith n patient, and it’s really up to me to decide whether to try to keep up or collapse... must admit that I haf been quite a guniang lately...teared quite easily especially when I watched those tear-jerking films...I teared in my car on my way to office when Paris spoke...Life is still a learning process whatever age you are. Hopefully could just ride through the waves for both of us bah. Cawabanga!!

Today received a little surprise from L...woo, envelope was tear off...hmm...so basically the surprise element of peeking wat's inside poof into thin air. A keychain and candy-like metal thingy jus fell off into my hands...smell nice...Dr Pepper...ah the one L mentioned...taste ueeakkk...ok....wasn't really paid attention on the front...since it's a candy....then I read the warning: to prevent fire keep burning candle within sight..blah blah blah....failure to follow instructions could result in a fire hazard. In my mind was like "Wah, this candy so geng..maybe very spicey..later share some with colics" (See how stewpit I am...till now haven realised wat's going wrong)
So I try to pry it open...'but not too much force.....later candies fall out......then wasted"....ah finally...was stumped...is a candle. (hit wall) The key chain was nice though just in time to change my car key chain...hehe..I like the name imprint on it....macam those army type....
Lesson of the day: I think I am not cut out to be a clerk..I simply open n assuming wat's inside the package....luckily L din send mi anthrax/a bomb...

It’s a luxury to walk to work….. This is what I thought when I start the train squash in the peak hours….
I walked to work in rain sun wind cold then. But I guess except for the extreme rain wind days, it’s actually a good thing. Well I had beta shoes as well but they din survived nyc.
When I am in the train looking at people’s hairline or allowing people to check if I have any bald spots, I mumble at the proximity. Ah but I have dressed kindle up and people wonder what I am looking at.

Was in Philly Manayunk for arts festival.
In casual clothes in the sun. the online weather forecast was so wrong. no hint of rain or 40% storm.
The stalls were interesting. people sold the wares and the artist/inventor/creator were in the stall selling the stuff. There were pottery, paintings, woodwork, jewellery etc
Not that huge but at least a respectable number of stalls and items. better than those in nyc flea markets or road closure stalls for memorial day.
In casual wear. So the rumours are true, i do look younger outside of work attire.
Few stall owners wondered if I studied in the nearby college or from another state school coming to viist or on summer holidays.
BUT, but....
one stall lady asked me if I was getting for my girl or boy. My reaction? Girl. Then she said ya she should have known from the things i am looking and asking. Was asking about animals painting. hahah but they were meant for kids...
